Digital cameras come in a verity of sizes, colors to choose, brands for quality, zooms, and resolutions, not to talk about playbacks, memory, LCD etc. There are so many features being placed in the devices that we the buyer, especially first time buyers become overwhelmed! with the array of gadgetry on cameras. Also Chooseing the right camarawith the various adverts, different ratings or rankings that are used to promote these products can get very confusing to say the least!.

So what should we look for before buying a digital camera? Technology is ever changing, so do some research on the Internet, window shopping can give you idea's for what size you may want, the colour you may choose, or the brand you maybe considering on buying? When I look for a Digital Camera, I always take into consideration ease of use! (That's me, just point and click) . However, if you are a budding David Bailey, you need the right tool to accomplish that type of photography. Ask yourself  the following questions? to help you define what you need from your Digital Camera:

- What type of photography do you plan to use your digital camera for? Before you buying a digital camera, it is important to determine what kind of pictures you want to take with it. If you are a digital photography enthusiast, you may need to look for features that can support the zooming you need, the resolution, etc.

- How much is your budget? this of course is important, how much you intend to spend on a digital camera? What features you need and the extra one's you may want for the device,  your financial resource will play a huge part in dictating the type of digital camera you will buy in the end.

- What are you resources? When you buy digital camera, sometimes the spending does not end there. You also have to consider the capacity and the power of the computer and the printer you will be hooking your camera to, check that you can support image editing and image storage and retrieval. You may also need an additional memory card for your digital camera. Aside from a printer for editing and printing your photos, take into consideration ink and photo printing paper, when taking up Digital photography. Editing software is usually  Choosing the right devices for your camaraincluded when you buy a digital camera, However, other devices like adapters may not.

- Resolution. Before you buy a digital camera, check first its capacity to produce high quality photographic images. The number of pixels indicated determines the resolution. The higher the number of pixels, the higher the resolution you don't lose quality when photos are enlarged.

- Built-in memory. Digital cameras need memory cards for picture storage. When you buy a digital camera, make sure that the gadget you buy does not only have a "built-in" memory but should also have a card slot for external and additional memory. This allows you to change a full memory card conveniently while shooting your pictures.

- Look and feel. It is essential you feel comfortable holding your digital camera while shooting. If you have seen a bargain while researching for the best digital camera, test and check the product as soon as you get it, ensure you are comfortable holding it and using it. Consider where the buttons are located and how they are spaced out and youWhich camera to choose feel comfortable using the viewfinder. If not return it, and get another you maybe more comfortable with.

- Battery life. Digital cameras use up batteries fast and batteries are expensive. Before you buy a digital camera, it may be prudent to consider buying a camera with rechargeable batteries!.  Take also into consideration an AC adapter you will need this to attach to the camera when you are viewing your pictures or uploading them.

- LCD. The LCD you will need to take special consideration over, with technology ever changing you can now get rather large screens on your camera to preview the pictures you took, great for me, who has to wear glasses!  but do consider this however, because it uses up a lot of battery power.

- Special features. Special features that will suit your needs should be thought about too, before you buy a digital camera. If you want your camera to have good zooming, you can opt for those with optical zoom lenses. A diopter adjustment on the digital camera's viewfinder will also be beneficial to those who regularly wear glasses. Other features such as remote control, tripods, etc, can also be considered when you buy a digital camera. Oh and don't forget a camera bag or case to keep your digital camera safe. Now armed with this information , you may be more focused when buying a digital camera.
